Alma Hemesath

The family of Alma (Wurzer) Hemesath would like to honor her with a card shower in celebration of her 85^th birthday on Saturday, May 5, 2018. 

Her family include sons Dennis of Ossian, Floyd  (Amy) of Disputanta Va., Randy (Kendra) of Ossian, Tom (Belen) of Somonauk, Ill., and Chuck (Gina) of Hinckley Ill., and daughters Lisa Coghill of Waterloo, and Geri Ollendieck (Kevin) of Sumner. Alma also has 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with two more great-grandchildren arriving in late 2018.

Jim and Darise Donat

Jim and Darise Donat are celebrating their 45^th wedding anniversary.

An open house will be held at their home at 710 Maynard Street in Maynard at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

Jim Donat and Darise Stolfus were married by the Rev. Lloyd Bickel on Feb. 10, 1973, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

They are the parents of seven children:  Sarah (Cory) Michels and Michael (Shelly) Donat of Maynard, Aaron Donat and John Donat of Oelwein, Tim Donat of Waverly, Anne Marie (Justin) Goodchild of Iowa City, and Elizabeth Donat (deceased).

The couple also have 11 grandchildren.

Herbert and Arlene Langreck will celebrate their 60^th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 21.

Herbert Langreck and Arlene Schaufenbuel were married April 21, 1958, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Lawler.

They are the parents of five children, Dale (fiancée Gwyn Kleppe) Langreck of Waucoma, Alan (Kathy) Langreck of Fayette, Carol Ann Langreck of Hawkeye, Randy Langreck (deceased), and Debra (Kim) Weidemann of West Union. Their family also includes five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lee Stammeyer

On March 31, Leander “Lee” Stammeyer, formerly of St. Lucas, celebrated his 97^th birthday with family and friends at the senior citizens home in Sumner.

Three of his siblings, three of his children, and five of his grandchildren were on hand to help Lee celebrate his big day.

According to his daughter Mary Lee Johns, her father “really liked reminiscing with everyone” at his party.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Boeding

Jerry and Joan Boeding of Waverly, formerly of West Union, will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Friday, April 20.

A family Mass and dinner in May are planned.

Gerald Boeding and Joan Robinson were married April 20, 1968, at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union.

Their family includes son Jay, daughter-in-law Stephanie, and two grandsons. Their daughter, Jenny, died in 1990.

Adam and Nikki Luhman of Batesville, Ind., welcomed the early arrival of their son Lleyton Maxwell Luhman on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. Due on April 17, he weighed 4 lbs. 9 oz. at birth.

Lleyton joins big brothers Cael, 5, and Grant, 3. 

Proud grandparents are Tom and Deb Luhman of West Union, Dennis and Val Stutler of Batesville, Ind. 

Great-grandmothers are Darlene Kuhlers of West Union and Patricia McFall of Franklin, Ind.
