Lima spring meeting

The Lima Church and Cemetery Association will hold a spring meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday April 7, at the Lima Church. Upcoming fundraising will be on the agenda. All are invited to join.

NFV variety show Saturday

      North Fayette Valley speech will host a variety show at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in the Performing Arts Center at the high school. The show will feature performances by the NFV jazz band, jazz choir, speech groups, and more.

      Admission is a freewill donation, with proceeds going to NFV speech.

Valley class reunion June 29

West Union Easter egg hunt March 30

      Bethel Presbyterian Church and United Methodist Church are hosting a West Union community Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 30. The event will be held at the West Union Rec Center and is open to children ages 10 and under. Anyone planning to participate will need to bring their own basket.

Retirement celebration for Deputy Davis

      The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office will host an open house Thursday, March 28, celebrating the career of chief deputy Jim Davis. The event will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the sheriff’ office, located at 220 North Industrial Parkway, West Union.

      Davis is retiring after 24 years with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and 10 years with the Iowa Department of Corrections. Additional information about the open house and Davis’ distinguished service will be featured in next week’s Union Echo Leader.

Cemetery spring cleanup

      To prepare for spring cleanup at the West Union Cemetery, the public is asked to remove wreaths and ground items from their respective plots by Monday, March 25.

Easter bunny coming to Ossian March 30

     The Easter bunny is coming to Ossian on Saturday, March 30. The Ossian Crown Club is sponsoring the appearance, which will be at 10 a.m. at the South Winneshiek Middle School playground in Ossian

Garden club meets Tuesday

The Hawkeye Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Hawkeye Library Meeting Room, with Vicki Rowland as host. Roll Call is “What is something new that you plan to try?”
