James (Jim) Edmund Schneberger

James (Jim) Edmund Schneberger, age 94, of Calmar, died on January 10, 2024, at Wellington Place in Decorah after a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville Street, Calmar, IA, with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding.  The burial was in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation was from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Helms Funeral Home, French Chapel, 202 South Washington St., in Calmar, IA and after 10:00 a.m. at the church Wednesday morning. 

Georgia Rae Conner

Georgia R. Conner, 52, of Sumner, died Friday, January 5, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM. Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette is assisting Georgia’s family. Donna Dee Robinson

Donna D. Robinson, 90, of Hawkeye, died Friday, January 19, 2024, at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union.

Donna Dee, daughter of George, Sr. and Delia (Wendland) Boess was born September 5, 1933, in Hawkeye. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Donna received her education in the Hawkeye School System and graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1951. Following graduation, she would attend Pitzi’s Cosmetology School in Waterloo and worked at a salon in Waukon for a few years.

Keith Anderson

Keith Anderson died Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral plans are pending with Burham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home. The previously planned 60^th Birthday Open House on January 27 has been cancelled.

Wayne Allen Thiese

Wayne Allen Thiese, 90, of Guttenberg, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa. Funeral services will commence at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Guttenberg City Cemetery.  Pastor Mike Ashman will officiate.

Virginia Wedo

Virginia Lea Wedo, 92 of Elgin, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Virginia was born June 3, 1931 to Frank and Renabell (Hansel) Borwig in Volga, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa with the class of 1948.

Marlene Marie Grimm

Marlene Marie Grimm 87, of Elgin, Iowa passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa surrounded by family and friends. Marlene was born May 24, 1936 to Howard and Edith (Holzer) Medberry in West Union, Iowa. 

James Carl Baumler

James Carl Baumler was born on February 2, 1948, in the West Union Hospital to Reynold Clem Baumler and Helen M (Wagner) Baumler. He passed on December 31, 2023, at Gunderson Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union at the age of 75 after a brave battle with cancer.

Arlene Velma Taylor

Arlene Velma Taylor, 86, of Clermont, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Arlene was born October 28, 1937 to Walter and Ester (Shafer) Schutte. After graduating from high school, Arlene continued her education at Upper Iowa and Iowa State Teachers College.

Mary Lou Schmitz Uhlenhake, 89 of Ossian, died Sunday, January 7, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, 3-7 p.m. at the Schmitz Grau Funeral Home and Friday, January 12, 9:30 to 10:30 at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. CDA Rosary will be at 3 p.m., Thursday with the Parish Service at 7 p.m. at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral home.

                  The Funeral mass is set for Friday, January 12 at 11 a.m. with burial at the church cemetery.
