It started as a “what if” conversation between friends. A sort of daydream that has now grown into a reality, as Clermont’s newest business, Krooked Halo, prepares to open its doors for business on Friday, July 6.

“I’ve had an interest in this sort of thing since grad school,” explained Dr. Jennifer Hutchinson of what drew her to the business opportunity with friend, colleague, and now business partner, Dr. Tanya Tysland.

“It was always a little bit of a dream of mine to build a business focused on self-care and alternative treatments.  That’s something the two of us connected on right away,” said Tysland.  “She was always on the medical side of it, I was just the consumer.”

The new business, a wellness spa designed to offer unique treatments such as a Himalayan salt-rock room, a Zen floating pool, as well as sauna and steam treatments, is designed for a variety of customers, from those seeking a comforting escape from everyday stressors to those who hope to find relief in alternative pain treatments.

Starting today (Wednesday, June 20), weather permitting, Clayton County will be closing a portion of Agate Road between April and Bixby avenues for the replacement of a bridge.

Depending on weather, the project is slated to last two to three months. Agate Road runs from Elgin to Gunder. The posted detour will take travelers on Canoe Road from Elgin to Clermont and then Apple Road to Gunder.

“We do know that any time we do a project like this, it is an inconvenience for the people who use the roads, so we appreciate their patience with us. Hopefully, we can maintain the local roads sufficiently enough, and it doesn’t cause too many problems for the people trying to get around the project,” said Rafe Koopman, Clayton County Engineer.

The 78-year-old bridge has been deteriorating over the last decade. For the last five years, posted weight limits have allowed for semi trucks to pass over the bridge, one at a time.

At Monday night’s Fayette City Council meeting, a unanimous vote was passed to move ahead with the purchase of body-worn cameras for the Fayette Police Department.

“Currently, we have no form of digital evidence collection, which makes it difficult to get convictions in a lot of cases,” cited Police Chief Benjamin Davis. “This addition will be a great way to protect our officers, the City, and our citizens.”
