Robert H. Dietz, 104, of Wadena, Iowa died Monday morning, December 4, 2017 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Lima Church in rural Fayette with Pastor Philip Rownd officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington, Iowa and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Interment: Lima Cemetery, rural Fayette.

Robert Harry Dietz was born March 22, 1913 in Buchanan County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Abbedell Dietz, the second of seven children.  On May 15, 1939, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Susanna Taylor at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  To this union three children were born: Guy, Robert, and Max.  He served with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.  Robert started farming in 1946 and in 1959 they moved to Wadena where he farmed until he moved to Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.  He raised registered Quarter Horses and registered Holstein Cattle and was employed for many years with American Breeders Services of Madison, Wisconsin.           

 

Robert is survived by his 3 sons: Guy Dietz, Robert W. Dietz and Max (Amber) Dietz; 4 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Elizabeth on September 25, 2002; daughter-in-law: Susan Dietz; and 6 brothers and sisters.
