Garry L. Schott, 70, of Eldorado, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Gundersen Health Systems in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. 

Garry Lee, the son of Fred and Ruth (Entwisle) Schott, was born Nov. 7, 1946 in West Union, Iowa.  

He was baptized on May 25, 1975 and confirmed on April 5, 1981, with his son Troy at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union.  

He attended school in Clermont, Iowa.  

Garry farmed near Clermont for several years. He mainly worked as a carpenter for Midwest Buildings in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Garry was united in marriage with Kathy Kamaus on Nov. 8, 1964.  To this union three children, Troy, Todd, and Aimee, were born.  Garry and Kathy later divorced.  

Garry was then united with Karolyn Moritz, a union that has lasted 36 years.  As Garry and Karolyn blended their families, Garry gained four children, Tammie, Terrie, Dennis “Mick” and Jane.

Garry served as the unofficial “Mayor” of Eldorado and helped wherever he could.  

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and tinkering in his garage.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching western movies.

Garry is survived by his longtime love, Karolyn of Eldorado; his children, Troy (Judy) Schott of Clermont, Iowa; Todd (Danielle Wagner) Schott of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Aimee (Jon Martin) Schott of West Union, Iowa; Tammie (Dan Becker) Crandall of Elgin, Iowa; Terrie (Kevin) Musland of Elgin, Iowa; and Jane (Mark) Gamm of West Union, Iowa; 38 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one brother Willis (Shelby) Schott of Clermont, Iowa; and his faithful companions, Jocko and Jojo.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis “Mick” Moritz; his brothers, Larry, Duane “Sandy,” Art, and Marvin Schott; and his sister, Jane Helgerson. 

Funeral Services were held at 11 am Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado.

A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date in God’s Acres Cemetery in Clermont, Iowa.

Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Services of West Union, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.   23u23
