Ronald Joe Tempel, 77, of West Union died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, Wis.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Holy Name Parish Center in West Union.

Ronald Joe Tempel, son of John and Gladys (Stout) Tempel, was born July 23, 1938, in Webster City. 

He received his education at Kamrar Public School.

He later worked for Nissen’s Meat Packing Co. in Webster City.

On March 30, 1958, Ron married Deloris Elizabeth Jacobson at Duncombe Lutheran Church in Duncombe.

In August 1960, the Tempels moved to California, where Ron worked for several furniture manufacturing companies. 

They returned to Iowa in 1968, and Ron went back to work for Nissen’s in Webster City.

In 1970, the Tempels moved to West Union, where Ron worked for Bemiss Distributing Co. and for Northeast Iowa Public Transit.

A member of Zion Lutheran Church, he was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife, Deloris; three children, Lori (Greg) Fink, Bradley Tempel, and Sheila (Rich) Miller; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Tempel; his mother, Gladys Naber; his stepfather, William Naber; and two brothers, Robert and Gary Tempel.   47u47
