The family of Dixie Hennig invites friends and relatives to shower Dixie with cards or notes sharing memories in celebration of her upcoming 80th birthday.

Dixie was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Aberdeen, S.D.

She has devoted her first 80 years to the service and care of others, including as a longtime employee and volunteer at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, as a Hospice volunteer, and as a member of First Methodist Church in Fayette.

Dixie’s family includes eight children, Carolyn (Terry) Kiser of Cedar Rapids, Sandy (Dick Hogan) Moses of Central City, Larry Hennig of Orange Park, Fla., Nancy Gerson of Peachtree City, Ga., Ed (Kathy) Traeger III of Readlyn, Brenda (Chris) Kelly of Marion, Barbi (Randy) Holub of Robins, and Keith (Mary) Hennig of Evansville, Wis.; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

The family is hoping that Dixie will receive over 80 good wishes from friends, near and far, who’ll let her know they’re thinking of her on her special day.
