Betty Lou Tillman, age 84, of Waucoma, IA died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Linn Haven Rehab & Healthcare in New Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma with Rev. Nick March celebrating the Mass. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Friends greeted the family 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waucoma where there was a 3:00 p.m. rosary and a 7:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Waucoma was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Lou Tillman was born July 23, 1930, in Riceville, IA, the daughter of Victor and Katherine (Linkenmeyer) DeSloover.

She received her education in rural country schools around the area.

On October 6, 1952, she married the love of her life Herbert Tillman at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Lawler, IA. To this union six children were born.

The couple lived near Alpha and she raised her family while helping on the farm and doing daycare from her home.

She loved to spend time with her family, playing cards, gardening and caring for her roses. Betty loved to fish and she learned to play accordion, as it was a gift from her husband while he was stationed over in Germany. She continued to play the accordion throughout her life. 

Betty is survived by one son, David (Marcia) Tillman of Bethel, MN; five daughters, Katherine Donath of Dubuque, IA, Virginia (Robert) Witt of Clive, IA, Karen (Eric) Olson of Des Moines, IA, Marla (David) Pleggenkuhle of Sumner, IA, Bonnie Wessels of Waterloo, IA; 15 grand children; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Clem Langreck of Lawler, IA.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; two brothers Loyal and Bernard DeSloover; three sisters, Bernice Langreck, Verda Langreck and Katherine Langreck.      15u15
