NFV girls 2nd at UIC track

NFV’s Josie Mackey dislocated an elbow at the Annual UIC Senior all-Star Basketball Game last March. That did not deter the senior from running track this spring. Here, leads a pack of runners in the 3000, finishing 12th. (Jerry Wadian photo)

Valley girls knew the UIC track meet in Monona, Thursday, May 8, would be a dogfight, and it was. The improving TigerHawks finished second to Central/Elkader, 126-101.5. Other teams in a close meet were Clayton Ridge (94), Turkey Valley (88.5), and South Winn (83), which finished second, third and fourth, respectively.

Head coach Mark Nuss stated, “The girls had a great meet. Central has a very talented bunch of athletes, but we were very pleased with our performances. We improved over most of our seedings and set some personal- and season-bests.”
