Gold abounds for Lady Warrior track

 

 

Brittany Shindelar shone with gold in the shot put and discus several times last week for South Winn.

At Clayton Ridge

Despite numerous top-notch finishes at Clayton Ridge on Tuesday, April 29, the Lady Warriors finished second to Cascade (157) with 137 points.

Shindelar, a junior, earned her first gold medals with a shot put toss of 36’5” and a discus throw of 110’6”. She added a silver to her stat sheet later in the evening in the 100m dash, crossing the finish line in 13.89 seconds.

Lexie Warth continued to showcase her dominance in the 100m hurdles with a gold and anchored the shuttle hurdle relay team to a first-place finish in 1:14.15. Other members of the winning relay were Amber Brincks, Kennidee DeVilbiss, and Abby Phillips.

Clearing the high jump bar at 4’8”, Phillips also garnered an individual gold for the Lady Warriors.

DeVilbiss’ strength in the mid-distance events earned her a gold in the 400m hurdles in 1:11.84, a silver in the 400m dash in 1:05.5, and she was a member of the winning 4x400 relay with Becca Hertges, Shindelar, and RaeAnn Klimesh.

Individually, freshman Josie Kriener clocked 11:43.86 in the 3000m run to finish in third place. Jessica Lechtenberg earned bronze in the 1500m run in 5:42.45.

 

 

The Lady Warriors returned to competition Thursday in Cresco, finishing fourth in the team standings with 105 points behind New Hampton (124), Osage (121), and host team Crestwood (111).

Shindelar outthrew the competition once again in the shot put and discus to earn gold. Phillips earned her gold in the high jump with a 4’10” clearance.

Both Shindelar and Phillips were also members of the winning 4x200 relay with Kennidee DeVilbiss and Becca Hertges.

In the 100m hurdles it was Warth who dominated down the front stretch to garner gold in 16.71 seconds.

The 4x800 relay claimed gold in 10:48.82 with team members Tiana Bullerman, RaeAnn Klimesh, DeVilbiss, and Josie Kriener.

Earning individual bronze for the Lady Warriors were Courtney Humpal in the shot put and Kriener in the 1500m run.

The shuttle hurdle and 4x100 relays also finished third.

 

On Monday, the Lady Warriors competed in their final regular meet of the season at Ed-Co, but results were unavailable at press time.

Thursday, the season will conclude with the UIC Meet at MFL/MarMac beginning at 3:30 p.m.
