The North Fayette Valley boys’ basketball team had two second-half rallies fall short last week. The TigerHawks lost a pair of road games, falling at West Central, 52-46, on Friday, Jan. 31, and 62-41 the next day in Oelwein.

Friday in Maynard, the TigerHawks’ late rally was a case of too little, too late.

WC led throughout, taking a 25-16 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Devils expanded the lead to 40-25 by the end of the third period. Then the TigerHawks found the range and went on a 21-12 tear over the final eight minutes. However, the frantic rally ran out of time.

Overall, NFV did not shoot well enough to win, going 18-60 from the floor and 6-11 from the line.

WC was also a little too strong on the boards, outrebounding NFV, 41-32; the Devils also blocked seven TH shots.

Alex Callahan led NFV with 10 points and six rebounds. Tristan Riley and Thomas Hanson each put in nine points.
