The North Fayette Valley boys’ basketball team played three games last week. They had a tough time on the road, losing at Clayton Ridge, 68-43, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and at New Hampton, 69-31, Saturday night.

The TigerHawks notched a UIC win Friday night by beating Kee High, 71-55, in West Union.

Friday’s win saw NFV score the first nine points of the game and take a 21-9 lead by the end of the first eight minutes. The TigerHawks never looked back as they outscored Kee in three of the four quarters.

NFV used its outside shooting and strong rebounding to down the Kee Hawks. The TigerHawks canned five treys and went 29-63 from the field. Ben Martin and Thomas Hanson each dished out five assists.

Hunter Hoopes and Hanson led the scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Alex Callahan and Lincoln Johansen led the rebounding effort. Callahan grabbed a dozen boards, and Johansen came down with 10 caroms.

Tuesday’s road trip saw a Jeckyll/Hyde performance. NFV did well in the first quarters of each half, but lost by 13 in the second and fourth quarters in falling to the Eagles, 68-43.

The TigerHawks did not shoot well, going 4-12 from 3-point range and 18-42 from the field. NFV only went to the free throw line six times, canning three.

CR had 10 attempts from the charity stripe, making two. The Eagles were also cold from the outside, making eight of 22 shots from beyond the arc. However, the hosts were 29-58 from the field with four players in double digits.

Thomas Hanson was the only TigerHawk in double figures with 10 points. Hunter Hoopes scored eight points, and Ben Martin, Lincoln Johansen, and Alex Callahan added six points apiece.

Each team had 28 rebounds. Callahan led NFV with nine boards.

Saturday wasn’t much of a contest as the host Chickasaws led all the way, including a 20-point edge in the second quarter.

Dakota Moore led the TigerHawks with a dozen points and seven rebounds.  Three of his rebounds came on the offensive glass. NFV was only 2-12 from 3-point range and 11-49 overall.
