…exchange vows…

Kaitlin Rear and Tim Zern of Cedar Falls were united in marriage on Saturday, May 18. The Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony, which took place at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Parents of the couple are Bob and Kathy Rear of West Union, Scott Zern of Conrad and the late Lynn Zern.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown of ivory lace and tulle featuring a scalloped neckline and a floral sash made by her mother. She carried a bouquet of ivory hydrangeas and blush roses.

Kaitlin chose her friend Ranae Molkenthin as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jaymi Kragel, friend of the bride; Amy Tate, sister of the groom; Lindsey Kelly, Bailey Griffin, and Allison Neumann, friends of the bride.

They wore floor-length, blush-pink chiffon gowns of varying styles.

Brianna Rear, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.

The bride’s personal attendants were Angie Dickinson, Abby Schaa, Tasha Friedlein, and Stacy Wedeking.

Serving as best men were Nick Moler and Travis Schulz, friends of the groom. Groomsmen were Evan Groepper, Chris Linder, Scott Bergman, and Nick Henkes, friends of the groom.

Reece and Brennan Dickinson, nephews of the groom, were the ring bearers.

Seating the guests were Dan Dickinson, Chad Tate, Bryan Rear, and Jesse Hach.

Providing music were vocalist Sara Kirkley and pianist David Berns.

Chloe and Lauren Nelson presided at the guest book.

Following the ceremony a reception and dance were held at Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Falls.

The bride is a 2003 Valley High School graduate and a 2007 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Kaitlin earned her Master of Education degree in 2010 from the University of Phoenix. She is currently a second-grade teacher at Kingsley Elementary in Waterloo.

The groom graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is currently the branch manager of Ferguson Enterprises in Waterloo.

The Zerns are making their home in Cedar Falls.
