Longtime West Union business owner Wayne Havenstrite officially purchased the former Wilbur Ford Body Shop on Friday.

Wayne and his son Jeff look forward to continuing their longtime commitment to current and new customers at J&W Auto Body, which is located just off Adams Street in downtown West Union.

“I have greatly appreciated the friendships I have gained from over 50 years in the automotive body service industry here in West Union,” said Wayne Havenstrite, while explaining he considers himself semi-retired after leaving Wilbur Ford Sales and Service.

A 1983 North High graduate, Jeff returned to West Union nearly a year and a half ago to serve alongside his father as Body Shop manager of the local business. While retaining the same position at J&W Auto Body, Jeff smiled when proclaiming that his dad much deserves to semi-retire at the age of 75.

At the same time, Jeff, who has 28 years of experience in the automotive industry, stressed the newly acquired body shop will welcome all makes and models of automobiles. J&W Auto Body will also work with all insurance companies.

In addition to normal body work-related services, the business will provide after-market additions such as the installation of hitches, running boards, etc.

For almost 40 years, Rolley Miller has worked at the local body shop and will continue his duties at J&W Auto Body. With a growing service schedule over the past few weeks, Jeff foresees hiring additional employees.

“Dad and I both see this not only as a great opportunity to continue working at something and with people that we greatly enjoy, but also offering a trusted and reliable service to our community,” Jeff closed.

J&W Auto Body hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For additional information or to make an appointment, call (563) 422-5173.
