Although many may not know it, January is National Mentoring Month. For Kathy Schwartzhoff and Colinne McCann of Helping Services for Northeast Iowa, the excitement of mentoring is no higher now than in any other month and it is their mission to make sure everyone knows about the many benefits of youth mentoring.

The two representatives’ jobs are to match mentors with mentees across a four-county area in northeast Iowa.

“Our goal is to find a perfect fit that will help better the experience for our youth,” said Schwartzhoff, who has been with Helping Services since its inception  in northeast Iowa in 1998.
