It’s no secret to most that Spillville possesses some of the richest history of any community in northeast Iowa. One of the most storied buildings in the town’s history is that which is home to Hotel Capone, a hotel, restaurant, and bar new to the community.
The building may look familiar to many locals and travelers alike, as it was the longtime home of The Old World Inn and most recently The Speakeasy. In 2013, the restaurant and bar closed its doors and left the community.
Enter Cameron Jones, Garrett Minear, and Paul Greenberg. Jones grew up in nearby Waukon, while Minear and Jones were raised in Decorah. The three young entrepreneurs, all 21 years of age or younger, purchased the nearly 145-year-old building just a few short months ago with a vision of owning their own hotel, restaurant, and bar.
